What is Plagiarism?
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, to "plagiarize" means: (1) To steal and use the ideas or words of someone else as one's own; (2) to use materials without crediting the source; (3) to "commit literary theft"; (4) to present an idea from an existing source as a new and original idea. Basically it is an act of fraud and there are easy ways to avoid it!
The best way to avoid plagiarism is to write your paper in your own words (do not copy & paste from a source). Remember to cite any sources in your paper when you: use direct or indirect quotations; explain definitions or terms; use someone else's ideas!
